David Shaffer

David joined Good Shepherd as our Interim Youth Coordinator in January, 2011. He is now with us as our full-time Youth Director. David grew up at St. James Lutheran in Gettysburg, PA, where he was baptized, confirmed, and active in their youth programs his entire life. David has been a Summer Youth Intern and most recently served as St. James’ Interim Youth Minister while the church evaluated its next steps in staffing.

David is a 2007 graduate of Gettysburg High School and has completed several semesters of class work at the University of Maryland. He has run the Boston Marathon, biked all the way from California to the East Coast, coached high school soccer teams as well as youth soccer teams, and developed a love for the outdoors.

Those who read our church’s Frontline Devotions will be familiar with David’s father, Gary Shaffer, one of our regular devotion writers. David’s also been active in Pastor Fritz Foltz’s young adult Bible study and discussion group in Gettysburg.

David is an athletic, energetic and outgoing young man who has had a big impact on our team and with our youth here at Good Shepherd.
